27DPW138B On-Call Carpentry Services

The Town of Needham is requesting sealed bids for all labor and materials necessary for on-call carpentry services. The contractor will be expected to be available for these carpentry services as needed.

The Town of Needham (hereinafter referred to as the "Town"), acting through its Town Manager, invites highly qualified bidders to submit sealed bids to perform all labor necessary for On-Call Carpentry Services.

On an on-call basis, the contractor will perform skilled rough and finished carpentry services. These include, but are not limited to:

• Repairing, constructing, installing, remodeling, and modifying buildings and associated structures such as floors, walls, ceilings, concrete forms, doors, windows, frames, screws, sashes, furniture, locks, fixtures, stairs, ramps, railings, cupboards, roofs, gutters, flashings, counters, paneling, cabinets, lockers, and fixed seating
• Erecting and disassembling staging scaffolding, ladders, platforms and rigging
• Building and installing shelves, cabinets, and specialty furniture items (such as audio-visual cabinets, bulletin boards, and display cabinets)
• Repairing and replacing locks, lock sets, hinges, knobs, and other routine and specialty hardware items normally used in the building trades
• Cutting openings in brick, concrete block, cement, plaster, wood, and other materials
• Servicing and repairing wooden structures such as playground equipment and physical education apparatuses
• Installing drywall, floor tile, linoleum, millwork, hardwood flooring, etc.
• Performing routing patching and painting activities associated with carpentry work
• Reading and interpreting plans, sketches, and blueprints
• Preparing cost estimates and time estimates for all types of carpentry work

Additionally, the contractor will work with other skilled trade staff employed by the Town or contracted out. This includes coordination and installation of larger projects requiring multiple trades.

All work performed under this contract will be done in accordance with industry standards and in accordance with local, state, and federal building regulations. All areas disturbed in the performance of this contract will be restored to the original conditions.

**Sealed bids** must be submitted no later than **1:30pm, November 19, 2026**, to the Administration Office of the Public Works Department, Town of Needham, 500 Dedham Ave., Needham, MA 02492. **LATE BIDS WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED.** Bids will be publicly opened after the submission deadline.

All bids must be accompanied by a bid deposit in an amount that is not less than **five percent (5%)** of the value of the bid. A **100% Performance Bond** and a **100% Payment Bond** are required upon award of contract.

The Town will award the contract to the lowest responsible and eligible bidder based upon the total combined bid price for years one through three (Item P on bid form A).

The initial term of this agreement shall commence January 1, 2027, and end on December 31, 2027. This agreement may be renewed or extended for up to four (4) yearly extensions, at the sole option of the Town.
