Invitation for Bid Hamilton St Bridge Preservation

The Town of Saugus herein called the "Owner" invites sealed bids on the separate copies of Bid Forms furnished for that purpose, all blanks of which must be appropriately filled in. The bids will be for all labor, materials, equipment, tools, appliances etc. necessary for construction of the **HAMILTON STREET OVER SAUGUS RIVER BRIDGE PRESERVATION**.

The work description included in the Bid will include the partial removal of existing 18-inch reinforced concrete pipe, the installation of a proposed 18-inch class III reinforced concrete pipe, the partial replacement of the northeast wingwall to facilitate the installation of the proposed pipe, the installation of modified rock fill slope at the back face of all wingwalls, the repair of sidewalks at all four of the bridge approaches, the repair of pavement surrounding two manhole covers, and the replacement of a single w-beam guardrail panel at northeast approach of the Hamilton Street bridge that spans over the Saugus River in Saugus, MA. The proposed work and various sidewalk, pavement, and guardrail panel repair locations will be confirmed by the Town upon award of contract.

**Submission:** Sealed bids will be publicly opened on **Monday, November 30, 2026**, at the Saugus Department of Public Works, 515 Main Street, Saugus MA 01906, **by no later than 11:00 AM**, EST/EDST. Bidders are **required** to submit a bid including all bid forms contained in the package. Do not remove pages. Bids received after the deadline will be rejected.

Each bid proposal must be secured by an accompanying deposit of five percent (5%) of the total bid amount and submitted in a sealed envelope clearly marked, "Proposal for IFB #75-26 HAMILTON STREET OVER SAUGUS RIVER BRIDGE PRESERVATION". The deposit shall be in the form of a Bid Bond, Certified Check, Cashier's or Treasurer's Check, made payable to the Town of Saugus, or cash.

The successful bidder must furnish a Payment Bond and a Performance Bond of an amount equal to One Hundred (100%) percent of the total Contract Price, issued by a Surety Company, satisfactory to the Commissioner of Public Works.

Bidders must comply with Certification of Compliance G.L.C. 30 & 39S Public Construction More Than $10,000.00. Prevailing wage rates apply.

The contract shall be for the period beginning on or about **Monday, December 28, 2026** or as stated in the *Notice to Proceed*, whichever is later, and end on or before **Tuesday, June 1, 2027**.

The contract will be awarded to the lowest qualified bidder. No bidder may withdraw a bid within 60 days after the actual date of the opening thereof.
