The New York State Office of Addiction Services and Supports (NYS OASAS) recognizes the need for a comprehensive response to prevent, reduce, and delay the onset of the harms associated with gambling across the lifespan, from youth through older adults. To address this, NYS OASAS will fund community-based prevention providers to conduct a comprehensive needs assessment.
The needs assessment will identify local conditions contributing to gambling harms in their community, implement Environmental Change Strategies (ECS), and other evidence-based prevention strategies to address the local conditions identified in the comprehensive needs assessment. The prevention providers will develop and implement sustainable prevention programming within their community specifically related to the prevention and risk reduction of the harms associated with gambling.
If awarded, the applicant must include gambling survey questions at the next implementation and at every future survey implementation. All survey results must be reported to NYS OASAS within 30 days of the final evaluation and report being developed by the bidder. Applicants may allocate additional costs to add the gambling questions into their existing survey in the OTPS line on *Attachment 3* (Budget form).
