The City of Murfreesboro is seeking bids for "ITB-15-2027 – Auxiliary Lake Intake Sediment and Debris Removal" for the City of Murfreesboro's Water Resources Department. The scope of work is set forth in the specifications in Section 2 of this ITB.
The Auxiliary Intake was built in 1999. It consists of four (4) levels. Access to the lower three (3) levels is by stairs with a handrail.
All sediment, debris, and other foreign materials submerged within the intake structure and on the river side of the intake shall be removed. The river side of the intake shall be thoroughly cleared of all foreign materials, including, but not limited to, sticks, tree limbs, trash, and any other materials that could potentially obstruct or cause blockage to the intake. Sediment may be discharged into a sediment-filtering sock or by another approved method capable of effectively containing and capturing the sediment. The method of sediment containment and discharge shall be approved by the City's designated contact person prior to commencement of the work. The Contractor shall furnish all labor, equipment, materials, and other items necessary to remove, contain, transport, and discharge the sediment and debris to a holding area agreed upon by the Contractor and the City. The Contractor shall be responsible for the proper handling and disposal of all debris, trash, sediment, and other removed materials. Disposal shall be performed in accordance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and environmental requirements upon completion of the work.
Based on the information provided, sediment depths within the intake area range from approximately 6 to 8 feet. The Level 2 platform area contains approximately 1 to 2 feet of sediment. The sediment is described as having an oily appearance/substance and a consistency resembling a mud/clay mixture.
All submersed areas including river side of intake screen shall be inspected and the owner immediately notified of any problems that should be reviewed for immediate repairs. The inspection shall include a DVD video of the inspection and a written report, with color photos, that identifies all major components of the intake structure and provides an assessment of those components. In addition, the 36" approximately 50' in length intake pipe that extends out into the river shall be inspected as well.
Contractor will have to access bar screen by boat. A boat ramp is approximately 2.0 miles from the intake and the intake is approximately 0.5 miles upriver from boat ramp.
