Los Alamos County is seeking a qualified Contractor to furnish and install two new overhead hoist cranes that sit on a stationary structure at the Abiquiu Hydroelectric Power Plant. The plant sits at the base of the Abiquiu Dam and utilizes the outlet works where water flows directly into the Rio Chama in Northern New Mexico. The existing cranes are rated approximately two tons each and are inadequate for the lifting requirements associated with operation of the PRV gates. Each crane provides lifting support for one of the two gates, which are not lifted simultaneously. The project will replace the existing cranes with two new cranes, each rated for five tons.
The contracting office is the Department of Public Utilities. The location of the project is in the County of Los Alamos, New Mexico.
The Contractor shall furnish two new five-ton cranes from a qualified manufacturer selected by the Contractor, subject to Owner approval. The work shall include removal of the existing cranes, delivery and installation of the new cranes, and all associated equipment, controls, and accessories required for a complete and operational system.
The existing crane railway beam is not adequate for the future loading of the new five-ton cranes. The Contractor shall remove and replace the existing beam as required and provide all structural steel, connections, and installation necessary to support the new cranes. All structural welding shall be performed by a qualified/certified welder in accordance with the project plans, specifications, and applicable codes and standards.
The Contractor shall also provide qualified electrical personnel to complete the required electrical connections for the new cranes. Electrical work shall include providing the necessary wiring and connections from the available power source to the nearby electrical box for 208-volt, three-phase power required for the new crane equipment. [...]
The Contractor will be provided a three-month ramp-up period prior to the start of construction. This time is intended for submittals, ordering, fabrication, procurement, and delivery of the cranes, structural steel, electrical components, and all other materials and equipment required for the work. [...]
The Contractor shall provide all labor, materials, equipment, engineering, transportation, rigging, installation, testing, and commissioning necessary to complete the work. Upon completion, the Contractor shall test and demonstrate proper operation of both cranes and provide applicable manufacturer documentation, testing records, warranties, and operating and maintenance information.
The completed project shall provide two fully operational five-ton stationary cranes capable of safely performing the lifting operations required for operation and maintenance of the hydroelectric plant.
