What the bid is for

The California Vehicle Code requires engineering and traffic surveys be completed to support radar enforcement of prima facie speed limits for non-local streets below 65 mph and for narrow streets below 25 mph.

The Town of Los Gatos needs to renew the engineering and traffic surveys supporting its speed limits to continue radar enforcement.

Scope

The selected consultant shall conduct a Townwide Speed Survey and prepare an engineering evaluation and recommendations for existing speed limits on 65 Town-identified roadway segments, consisting of:

  • 31 high-volume segments; and
  • 34 low-volume segments.

Consultant shall review three years of accident history for each street segment. Consultant shall also drive and field check each street segment to evaluate the appropriateness of speed limits and for purpose of selecting survey location. All relevant information will be included in the report as a basis for the recommendation. Consultant shall provide field notes, full speed survey data, a summary table, and prepare a report of final recommendation. Town staff will review and sign the report of final recommendation.
