Prospect Police Station — Furnace Replacement

The Town of Prospect, Connecticut, is soliciting sealed bids from qualified and properly licensed heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) contractors for the replacement of the existing furnace at the Prospect Police Station, located at 8 Center Street, Prospect, Connecticut 06712.

The successful bidder shall furnish all labor, materials, equipment, supervision, permits, and services necessary to complete the furnace replacement in a complete and professional manner.

The Town intends to award the contract to a responsible and qualified bidder whose proposal meets the requirements of this Invitation to Bid and provides the best value to the Town, subject to applicable municipal requirements.

The successful contractor shall provide all labor and materials necessary to remove the existing furnace and furnish and install a new furnace.

The work shall generally include, but shall not necessarily be limited to, the following:

1. Inspect the existing furnace, heating system, ductwork, gas service, electrical service, venting, controls, and associated components prior to beginning work.
2. Provide a properly sized replacement furnace suitable for the existing building and heating system.
3. Disconnect and safely remove the existing furnace and associated equipment designated for replacement.
4. Furnish and install a new high-efficiency gas-fired furnace, including all required components and accessories.
5. Connect the new furnace to the existing:
- Gas service;
- Electrical service;
- Ductwork;
- Thermostat/control system;
- Venting system, as applicable;
- Condensate drainage system, as applicable; and
- Other associated systems necessary for proper operation.
6. Provide any necessary modifications to existing ductwork, piping, wiring, venting, supports, or connections required for a complete installation.
7. Provide all required fittings, transitions, connectors, hangers, fasteners, controls, safety devices, and miscellaneous materials.
8. Obtain all required permits and arrange for required inspections associated with the work.
9. Start, test, and commission the new furnace.
10. Verify proper operation of all safety controls, thermostats, controls, and associated equipment.
11. Balance and adjust the system as necessary to provide proper operation.
12. Remove the existing furnace and all construction debris from the premises and dispose of it in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
13. Leave the mechanical room and surrounding work area clean and free of debris upon completion.

Submission method

Bids shall be submitted in a sealed envelope clearly marked: "PROSPECT POLICE DEPARTMENT FURNACE REPLACEMENT" Bids shall be delivered to: Town of Prospect, 36 Center Street, Prospect, CT 06712. Bids must be received no later than **November 9, 2026** at **10AM**. Late bids will not be considered.

Site inspection

A site inspection will take place on Monday, November 2 at 10AM at the Prospect Police Department located at 8 Center Street, Prospect, CT 06712.

Alternates and base bid

The bidder shall provide a single lump-sum price for all labor, equipment, materials, permits, disposal, testing, startup, and other work necessary to complete the furnace replacement as described in this Invitation to Bid. Alternates shall be clearly identified and shall not be included in the base bid unless specifically stated.

Insurance

Prior to commencement of work, the successful bidder shall provide certificates of insurance acceptable to the Town of Prospect demonstrating required coverage. Minimum insurance requirements shall be established by the Town and may include general liability, automobile liability, and workers' compensation coverage.

Warranty

In addition, the contractor shall provide a minimum one-year labor/workmanship warranty covering defects in installation and workmanship, unless the bidder offers a longer warranty.
