Work includes surface preparation, milling, asphalt installation, compaction, and final cleanup. Elgin MHC is located at 750 South State Street, Elgin, IL 60123.
Areas are as follows:
Approximate Total Square Footage: 100,000
The Vendor shall field verify all designated locations and shall include confirming all actual measurements and square footage of the designated work areas, assessing existing pavement conditions, identifying locations that require milling or corrective preparation, reviewing drainage and slope conditions, and confirming transitions at curbs, entrances, and adjoining pavement. [...] In addition, the Vendor shall evaluate areas above underground tunnels to ensure that resurfacing methods and equipment will not compromise structural integrity or exceed allowable load limits.
The Vendor shall mobilize all required personnel and equipment to the project site and implement appropriate traffic control measures to ensure the safety of employees, visitors, and the general public. Existing pavement surfaces shall be cleaned and prepared for resurfacing, including removal of debris, vegetation, loose aggregate, and any foreign materials that may interfere with proper bonding.
The Vendor shall mill the existing asphalt surface to a depth generally ranging from 1.5 to 4 inches, or as otherwise directed based on field conditions. [...] All millings shall be removed from the site or recycled in accordance with project requirements and applicable regulations.
Following surface preparation, the Contractor shall apply a tack coat over all milled or aged asphalt surfaces to promote adhesion. The Contractor shall then install approximately 1.5 to 4 inches of hot-mix asphalt (HMA) across all designated areas. Asphalt shall be placed uniformly and compacted using appropriate rollers to achieve specified density, smoothness, and overall quality. All transitions to curbs, gutters, driveways, and adjoining pavement shall be tapered to ensure smooth and safe connections.
Upon completion of asphalt installation and after sufficient curing time, the Vendor shall reinstall all pavement markings as required.
The Vendor shall remove all equipment, debris, and waste materials generated during construction. The project area shall be left in a clean and orderly condition. A final inspection shall be conducted with the Facility's chief engineer and/or its designee to confirm the work has been completed in accordance with the contract specifications.
The project must be completed by the Vendor, and final inspection shall be done by **June 30, 2027**.
