This request is for information only to assist the City of Tallahassee (City) in determining how best to fulfill the requirements described herein. [...] The City of Tallahassee Electric and Gas Utility (Utility) seeks to learn about software vendors and consultants and their ability to provide robust utility analytics solutions that are focused on energy consumption and distribution grid operations. The purpose of this RFI is to identify and evaluate options capable of transforming Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) data into actionable customer insights and grid asset analytics.
Responses should describe the vendor's analytic capabilities across the following domains: Customer/DSM Analytics, Grid/Asset Analytics and Planning/Forecasting.
"Turn-key" software or project management solutions may be considered as well as any alternate solution that meets the goals enumerated in this RFI. Specifically, respondents should detail how their solution addresses the ability to translate 30-minute interval data into insights about customer energy use, then tailor that information to individualized energy recommendations and communicate those recommendations to the customer and utility.
In addition to understanding the aggregated data at the customer level, the utility is also looking for a long-term planning tool to allow it to understand where potential congestion may occur on the distribution grid, if certain feeders or transformers are overloading or even how much solar may be back feeding to the grid at the customer level.
Finally, this RFI seeks to understand what kinds of tools are available for grid infrastructure and long-term planning analytics that allow for real-time monitoring. Analytic tools that will aid in these analyses include, but are not limited to, load shape visualization, natural language scenario simulation, and demand response evaluation. Other examples include phase balancing detection that identifies single phase residential solar back feeding to the grid and the potential impact to its nearest transformers and other grid infrastructure.
